Hydrocarbons known as aromatics are mostly obtained from oil and, to a lesser extent, from coal. Toluene, Xylenes, Benzene, and Paraxylene are the primary products of Aromatics. Primarily, they serve as raw materials for an extensive array of petrochemical intermediate products and, to a lesser degree, as octane enhancers for gasoline mixing.
Natural gas can be cheaply converted to liquid form using methanol, which makes it convenient to transport and a necessary chemical feedstock for the production of numerous common industrial and consumer goods. In a market that is expanding quickly, it has also grown to be a clean-burning, reasonably priced alternative fuel, particularly for biodiesel, methanol-to-olefins, and direct gasoline blending.
